Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you're visiting Resonate Therapy for the first time or exploring a different treatment or experience, these frequently asked questions offer practical information to help you feel informed and comfortable before booking.
Appointments & Resonate Therapy
Where is Resonate Therapy located?
Resonate Therapy is based at a registered clinic in Ballina, in the Northern Rivers of NSW. In-clinic treatments are available by appointment, with selected mobile massage and wellness services also available throughout the Ballina and Byron Bay region.
Do you offer mobile massage and treatments in Ballina and Byron Bay?
Yes. Resonate Therapy offers mobile massage and selected wellness treatments throughout the Ballina and Byron Bay region, bringing professional, personalised care to your home, holiday accommodation or retreat location.
Same-day bookings may be available; however, therapist availability can be limited at short notice, particularly during busy periods. Advance bookings are recommended wherever possible to secure your preferred day and time.
How do I know which treatment is right for me?
You don’t need to know exactly which treatment you need before you arrive. Every session begins with a holistic consultation so I can understand what you are experiencing and tailor the treatment to your individual needs.
Even if you have booked a massage, your session may incorporate other supportive modalities such as breathwork or energy balancing where appropriate and with your consent. Each treatment is personalised rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
You are also welcome to let me know what you are experiencing when you make your appointment, and I can help guide you towards the most suitable treatment or combination of therapies.
How long are treatment sessions?
Most Resonate Therapy treatments can be booked for 60, 90 or 120 minutes, allowing you to choose the amount of time that best suits your needs.
The Breathwork Medicine Journey is a longer, more immersive experience and generally runs for 3–4 hours, depending on your individual needs and how the journey unfolds.
Can I claim a health insurance rebate for Remedial Massage?
Yes. Resonate Therapy is recognised by most major Australian health insurance providers for Remedial Massage.
To be eligible for a rebate, you will generally need to have Extras cover that includes Remedial Massage as part of your policy. As individual policies and rebate amounts vary, it is always best to check your level of cover directly with your health fund.
Do I need to book an appointment in advance?
Advance bookings are appreciated for in-clinic treatments in Ballina, particularly if you have a preferred day or time. However, you are always welcome to enquire about a same-day appointment — I may just have availability.
For mobile massage and treatments throughout Ballina and Byron Bay, advance bookings are recommended as therapist availability can be limited at short notice, although same-day bookings may sometimes be possible.
Breathwork Medicine Journeys require advance booking, as each journey includes a prior phone consultation and individual preparation before your session.
Massage & Bodywork
What should I wear to my massage appointment?
Wear clothing that is comfortable and easy to remove. Underwear must be worn during all massage treatments, and appropriate draping is used throughout your session to ensure your comfort and privacy.
Do I need to bring anything to my treatment?
You don't need to bring anything special. Filtered water is available at the clinic.
As payment is by cash or bank transfer, please bring cash or have your phone available if you would like to complete a bank transfer at your appointment.
What should I know before an Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage includes the application of a warmed scalp cream followed by a hot towel wrap, so your hair will be part of the treatment.
It's deeply nurturing for the scalp and head — but perhaps don't book the hairdresser immediately beforehand!
Can I have a massage if I have an injury or existing health condition?
If you have an existing medical condition or are unsure whether massage is appropriate for you, please seek advice from your doctor or healthcare professional before booking and let me know about your condition during your consultation.
Some muscular and soft-tissue injuries may benefit from appropriately tailored massage; however, massage is not suitable directly over broken bones, open wounds or broken skin, and some injuries or medical conditions may require your treatment to be modified or postponed.
If you are unwell with a virus, cold or flu symptoms, an unusual skin condition or any contagious illness, please reschedule your appointment until you are well. This helps protect you, your therapist and other clients.
Your individual circumstances will always be considered as part of the holistic consultation before your treatment begins.
Energy & Chakra Work
What is Energy & Chakra Work and how can it support me?
Energy and Chakra Work is a gentle yet powerful modality that can support you through periods of emotional stress, change or overwhelm. Sessions are designed to help clear and balance your energy, creating space for restoration, grounding and a deeper connection with yourself.
Energy balancing can be experienced as a standalone treatment or incorporated into a massage session. I often combine energy work with bodywork when it feels supportive to what you are experiencing always with your awareness and consent.
Each session is individual and guided by what you need on the day.
What happens during an Energy or Chakra Balancing session?
You will be gently guided through your energetic bodies, including the chakra system, using breath and light work. With each inhalation, we work with opening, clearing and restoring the flow of energy, followed by a gentle release with each exhalation.
The session provides space to slow down, connect more deeply with yourself and allow the body, mind and energy system to settle.
Do I need to have experience with energy work?
Not at all. No previous experience with energy work, meditation or chakra practices is needed. You will be supported and gently guided throughout the entire session, allowing you to simply experience the process in your own way.
What might I feel during or after Energy & Chakra Work?
Everyone experiences energy work differently. Many clients describe a deep sense of calm, balance and relaxation, with some expressing how much lighter they feel following their session.
There is no particular way you are expected to feel. Your experience is individual, and you are encouraged to simply notice what arises for you without expectation.
Meditation & Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
What happens during a Meditation & Crystal Bowl Sound Healing session?
Each meditation is thoughtfully curated around the current lunation and its themes, creating an opportunity to work with the natural rhythms and cycles of the moon.
The guided meditation incorporates gentle breathwork and light work to support nervous system regulation, deepen relaxation and bring awareness to the energetic bodies.
The meditation is followed by Crystal Bowl Sound Healing, with each bowl bringing its own unique tone and vibration into the space. You are invited to simply lie back, receive the sound and allow yourself to settle into a deeply restful state.
Together, meditation, breath, energy and sound create a nurturing space for restoration, integration and deep relaxation.
Do I need experience with meditation or sound healing?
No experience is needed. You will be gently guided throughout the session, so whether meditation and sound healing are completely new to you or already part of your regular practice, you are welcome to attend.
What should I wear and bring to a meditation or sound healing session?
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that are easy to slip on and off and bring your own water bottle.
Sessions are generally experienced lying or sitting on a yoga mat, so please bring anything else you personally need to feel warm and comfortable on the floor.
Yoga mats are provided along with some cushions and blankets.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive a little early to give yourself time to settle in, get comfortable and prepare for the session. Arriving before the scheduled start also allows us to begin together without interrupting the experience once the meditation has commenced.
What happens if I can’t attend a meditation or sound healing event I have booked?
If you are unable to attend, please let me know as soon as possible. At least 24 hours’ notice is required to transfer your booking to another meditation event.
With less than 24 hours’ notice, or if you do not attend, your ticket will be forfeited.
Breathwork & Medicine Journeys
How do I know if a Breathwork Medicine Journey is right for me?
If you feel called to experience a Breathwork Medicine Journey, please reach out to arrange a phone consultation before booking.
These sessions can involve a variety of strong and sustained breathing techniques, which may not be suitable for everyone and can be contraindicated with certain health conditions.
The initial consultation gives us an opportunity to discuss your individual circumstances, answer any questions and determine whether the experience is appropriate for you. Your safety and readiness for the journey are always the priority.
What happens during a Breathwork Medicine Journey?
Before every Breathwork Medicine Journey, we begin with an in-depth holistic consultation, creating space to discuss your intentions, individual needs and any limitations before we begin.
You will then be guided through a shamanic ceremony to create a sacred, safe and supportive space, followed by a guided energy-clearing meditation before moving into the breathwork.
The session incorporates a variety of strong breathing techniques. Breathwork can sometimes bring emotions, sensations or stored experiences to the surface, and any somatic or emotional release that arises is welcomed and supported throughout the process.
We conclude gently with time for integration and a nutritious lunch, allowing you to ground, reflect and settle after the experience.
How should I prepare for my Breathwork Medicine Journey?
Fasting on the morning of your session is generally advised. Any individual preparation will also be discussed with you during your prior phone consultation.
Before your journey, take some quiet time to consider a clear and meaningful intention for what you would like to explore, release or understand during the experience. You don’t need to force an outcome, your intention simply gives you something to gently return to throughout the journey.
Workshops, Retreats & Immersions
Who are Workshops, Retreats & Immersions for?
These experiences are created for anyone wishing to deepen their energetic understanding, explore nervous system regulation and build a deeper connection with themselves.
No particular level of experience is required. Each immersion creates space for learning, reflection and embodied practice, allowing you to explore the teachings and experiences at your own pace.
What can I expect at a Resonate Therapy Workshop or Retreat?
Each workshop and retreat is thoughtfully curated around a particular theme and may include wisdom sharing, guided meditation, Crystal Bowl Sound Healing and a guest facilitator or speaker bringing additional knowledge and experience to the day.
Food is also an important part of the experience. Workshops and retreats include a seasonal Food as Medicine lunch and morning tea, creating time to nourish, connect and integrate throughout the day.
While each event is different, the intention is always to create a supportive space for learning, restoration, connection and deeper self-awareness.
Do you offer private Workshops, Retreats or Immersions for groups and organisations?
Yes. Alongside regular group workshops and retreats scheduled throughout the year, private experiences can be created for your group or organisation.
These can be curated around the needs and intentions of your group and arranged to work with your preferred schedule. Please get in touch to discuss what you are looking for and the kind of experience you would like to create.
Upcoming public workshops, retreats and immersions can also be found on the Workshops & Immersions page of the website.
Blessing Ways & Ceremonies
Who are Blessing Way ceremonies for?
Resonate Therapy Blessing Way ceremonies are created for mothers-to-be and brides-to-be, offering a meaningful way to honour the woman at an important transition in her life.
I create a sacred ceremonial space where the woman of the day can receive the wishes, hopes, dreams and blessings of the people she loves. Each person is invited to share their blessing within the circle, creating a deeply personal experience of connection, love and support.
Who can organise a Blessing Way?
Blessing Ways are often organised by a family member or close friend as a beautiful gift for the mother or bride-to-be.
You are also very welcome to organise your own Blessing Way if you feel called to create this experience for yourself and the people you would like to have around you.
Where are Blessing Way ceremonies held?
Your ceremony can be held at your location of choice, allowing you to choose a space that feels meaningful and comfortable for your gathering.
I can travel to locations within approximately 30 km of Ballina and Byron Bay and arrive around 30 minutes before the ceremony to prepare and create the sacred space.
How long does a Blessing Way ceremony take?
The length of your Blessing Way depends largely on the number of people attending, as each person within the circle is given time to share their blessing with the woman being honoured.
Ceremonies generally run for 60, 90 or 120 minutes, allowing the experience to unfold without rushing this important part of the ceremony.
How much does a Blessing Way ceremony cost?
Each Blessing Way is individually arranged, so pricing is calculated according to the number of people attending, the length of the ceremony and travel time to your chosen location.
Please get in touch with your location and approximate group size, and I can provide pricing for your ceremony.

Advance bookings are recommended for mobile massage and treatments throughout Ballina and Byron Bay, particularly if you have a preferred day or time.
Same-day bookings are sometimes possible, so you are always welcome to enquire. However, therapist availability can be limited at short notice, particularly during busy periods, so booking ahead is the best way to secure your preferred appointment.
How much is a mobile massage?
Mobile massage rates vary depending on your location, the length of your treatment and the type of treatment you choose. As a guide, the average mobile massage rate is $150 for 60 minutes and $225 for 90 minutes.
Group rates are available for bookings of four or more people, making mobile massage a lovely option for retreats, holidays, gatherings and small groups.
